DPYC Youth Sailing & Activities

Developing knowledgeable and capable youth sailors and instilling a passion for the sport of sailing!

Whether it be for pure fun or the excitement of competitive sailing, Dana Point Yacht Club provides the opportunity for youth to become involved in sailing at all levels ... from learning to sail to advanced racing.  We have an outstanding summer sailing program that is open to both members and to the public, a Naples Sabot racing program, and are expanding our advanced programs, including high school sailing, C420 racing, and more.

Working with the Dana Point Harbor Youth Foundation to maintain one of the largest fleets of foundation owned Naples Sabots, Lasers, Collegiate Flying Juniors, and 420s in Southern California.

Our coaches are highly qualified sailors who emphasize fun and safety, both on and off the water.  Participants dedicated to our program will have experiences that will benefit them for a lifetime.  We invite you to come join us at DPYC!

The Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) governs secondary school sailing in the United States, in both independent and public high schools. Sailor eligibility starts at the ninth grade; there are no age limits. As in college sailing, there are seven district associations which schedule events, as well as a system of national championships.  We are in the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA) district.

Club 420 Class Association is a great resource for advanced sailors who want to apply for use of the new Dana Point Youth Charitable Foundation Club Pro 420 sailboats for regional or national campaigns.

CFJ Class Association has great information, including links to SoCal and National High School and Collegiate level sailing associations.

International / North American Laser Class Association the North American Region includes mainly Canada and the USA and is composed of 26 Districts.

29er North America is the site for youth sailors interested in sailing very fast, high performance skiffs. Success in these little rocket ships can lead youth sailors on a road to Olympic competition. A DPYC Junior captured a Gold Medal at the 2010 US Junior Olympics in a 29er.
